I picked up the TrojanChrome virus via a Java update ( I think the update was fake). I had the Geek Squad guys remove for me.
However, my son-in-law also had the virus on his laptop and used the free Kaspersky virus removal tool. And he was successful.
The virus caused a severe slow down of my computer with all applications.
I did not have GoogleChrome, it came with the Java update loaded with the virus.

Click the Chrome menu button on the Google Chrome browser, select Tools -> Extensions. Here, look for Trovi.com extension and get rid of it by clicking on the Recycle Bin. Additionally, click on wench icon, go to settings and choose 'Manage search engines'. Change search engine to google or other and delete Trovi.com from the list. Then Go to section “On start” and make sure you get blank page while creating new tab.

:agree:Exactly what I was going to say. In addition, you could download malwarebytes free and run it. That would get rid of any other stubborn adware/malware.
