We came, We saw, We drank the Kool-Aid

We just arrived back home after our first ever visit to The Villages. We spent 5 days and are totally blown away. We fell in love. If we didn't already have two homes here in Michigan, I think we would have pulled the trigger on one there.

Our heads are spinning and will be thinking about the next step. Once I get unpacked and look over the information we were given, I'm sure we'll have lots of questions.

Just want to thank everyone there for such a fabulous time and being so willing to chat with us about The Villages while we were there.

Where in Michigan are you from? We are from Wyandotte and drank the kool aid 4 years ago. Love it here. Sold house and cottage in Michigan and moved here.no regrets.

Future steps: sell one in Michigan. Buy one here. Find out here is better than there. Sell last one there. Move here full time. Have fun with those not smart of those to do same. Enjoy life, grow old together, and be active and healthy Villagers.

Happy New Year.

As a friend of mine says, "what's there not to love.

I know I was blown away, on my first visit.

You can do it.

After visiting "retirement communities" in SC, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, we arrived at Lake Sumter Landing. Within an hour we decided this was the place for us. Problem was selling the home in New Hampshire. Went back. Sold the NH home in 2012. Retired from my job... were homeless for a couple of months. Parked our motorhome at Recreation Plantation, and had Jim McLaughlin show us houses both old and new. Finally settled on a new Gardenia on a corner lot in Charlotte. Once you decide to do it, everything seems to fall into place. Do it. You'll love it here.

Welcome. There are many of us from NE here. It's a wicked good place.

Valerieo,

We had the same experience, spent a week her and tried to buy a house while we were here for the visit. Eventually were able to build a couple of months later. Sold 2 houses in PA ad some swamp land in Delaware, ad we are now FROGs.

Take the plunge you will LOVE it here.

We definitely don't miss Michigan this time of year. Keep one in Michigan for the summer and enjoy the best of 2

if you drank the KoolAid you'd be dead.
The people in Jonestown were not lured there by KoolAid. They were ordered to drink the poisoned beverage or be shot in the head. Your unthinking words refer to a very sad and tragic occurrence. It is not a joke.

The Jonestown cult members were forced to drink Flavor-Aid laced with cyanide, NOT Kool-Aid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flavor_Aid

The Jonestown tragedy has nothing to do with being enraptured by The Villages, aka 'drinking the Kool-Aid'.

I sipped the Kool-Aid while visiting The Villages. I like the sound of the turn of phrase and find it humorous, descriptive and appealing.
