New Greeter system at Executive courses

Has anyone an opinion on the new system being tried at Pimlico - Belmont-Churchill Greens? Check in at Starter shack then being told by the greeter outside the Starter shack when to go to tee.

Seems like it's always been that way. They don't want three, four groups standing on the tee. Sometimes the starter is near the shack and sometimes he is out in the parking lot and sometimes he or she is near the cartpaths.

WAIT, you know this already. You started this thread. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...73/#post937333

I thought you were an Ambassador.

Personally, I think it is extra work for us. First we stand in line to check in and then we stand in line until it is our turn and then the greeter finds the correct sheet and tells us where to line up. That is if the greeter is not away from the stand getting some group out on their course.

Before you checked in and the person in the starter shack said you are next at (name of course) or there is a group ahead of you. You then got in your cart and waited.

I'm confused, what has changed

Mikeod 01-15-2015 09:34 PM

What has changed is that previously one of the starters had to leave the building to get out of the building to get groups organized and to the proper tee. If you were trying to check in and that starter was out of the building, you had to wait. Now, none should be unavailable, and questions about who is next can be answered by the person at the podium. Give them time to fine tune this. It should improve things.

I have not observed any change...the system works great and the people at the starter shacks could not be more helpful!!

Fine with me. My group usually knows when it is time to advance to the white line.

We've golfed a few times recently using the Pimlico starter shack.
Like NYGuy, we haven't noticed any changes -- efficient system and the people are always very courteous.

The group I normally golf with have never had an issue with knowing when to go on. We've never had a problem with the golf staff here in the villages.

Not all starters handle the tee off procedure the same way. I always ask two questions when checking in.

1) Are we on time?

2) Who do I follow?

That way I know when I should be at the white line.

Haven't had any problems. The employees at starter shack hare friendly and professional. I also ask if they are on time and I know when to go to the white line. For people who seem confused about this, the starter nicely reminds them.

Everyone occasionally has a "bad day"---patience is a virtue----especially when dealing with the public. Our "neighbors" do a fine job!
