Several large oak trees cut down in Village of Lake Miona
According to an article in this morning's Daily Sun, at least nine large oak trees were cut down without permission and stacked behind four homes in Bridgeport at Lake Miona.
It appears the district must replace them to the tune of 20-30K and their removal was a felony crime. I was told when we first moved here that oak trees above a certain diameter were protected somehow and it was against the law to cut them down. So in case any of you were thinking about getting an oak tree cut down, better check first. One of the things I always loved and envied about Bridgeport at Lake Miona were the beautiful large Oak trees near many homes there. Wonder why they were cut down. Maybe they were messy? |

And the answer to the question is that a live oak 4 or more inches in diameter may not be removed without permission of the powers that be, including from your own yard. There are also rules about other trees but I'm not sure what they are. |
Felony ...Do they have register with the police as an arborist offender:icon_wink:
