TiVo HELP!

Sure would appreciate some input from someone with any similar experience.

We want to stop paying equipment rental fees to the cable company. We are trying to install a TiVo Roamio on the main living room TV and a TiVo Mini on a bedroom TV. The Roamio is supposed to direct programming to the Mini. We have internet through a new Motorola Surfboard modem activated with Comcast basic TV package and a cable card for the Romaio.

How do we wirelessly connect the TiVos? Are the phone jacks in each room also "ethernet" jacks? Will connecting each TiVo to those jacks closest to the TVs in each room do it or is something else needed?

Don't understand if a "MoCa" connection is an alternative or a necessity? How does it all work?

BTW, Best Buy's Geek Squad quoted $149.00 to set this up....It must be simpler than that!

THANKS!

The Tivo Romio communicates with the mini over ethernet . Think of MoCa like a hard line ethernet network connection except it's ran over coax. One thing to note is typical cable splitters run up to 1000Mhz frequency range and MoCa runs from 500-1500Mhz. You may need to change all the splitters in you home for high frequency Satellite units if it doesn't work. You can also run ethernet from the Romio to the mini. Or AC powerline adapters work as well.
