Hemingway area

Thanks to those of you who responded to my last request. We are trying to make a decision this week. Today we found a lot that would work for us in the Hemingway area. What are the advantages and disadvantages of that area? These are mine to date:
It will be midway between Sumter and the new square but will not be close to either. It is very far from Glenview where I hope to play tennis. Your thoughts?

Re: Hemingway area

We just bought (hadn't closed yet) a patio villa in Hemmingway and I love the location.
Midway between the two squares and only what, 3 miles?
Also, very close to the Havana rec center and to the shopping strip on 466a.
Also very close to 301/466a to head south and get to the turnpike (Mrs JohnN is a disneyfan)
Also, Canal St. is easier and lower key than Buena Vista or Morse for travel to LSL

I think long term, it's a great central location.

Re: Hemingway area

JoJo,

To my way of thinking, nothing is that far from anything in "The Villages".
By golf cart it is only 20 minutes from SS to LSL. 10-15 by car. Unless you want things walking distance from your village why would that be an issue?

After living in Chicago for 26 years and sitting in traffic for literally hours, TV seems great as far as close proximty to anything! (Just my opinion).

Re: Hemingway area

oh, and also, it's really close to the adult rec area ( I forget the name) for when the kids visit

JoJo.

You are close to Hadley and to us on Havana Trail! Also close to the new Publix grocery store and shopping center at Colony Plaza on 466A. I think it is a great location! Wow.

Your buckeye buddy.

Re: Hemingway area

Another vote to buy what you like. The reality is that nothing is that far in TV. I house watch, among other things. The homes I "babysit" are in Orange Blossom (the historic side), off Rio Grande, Hadley, Poinciana and a couple of other places. I can drive the whole circle to check all houses within 25 minutes. If you include stopping and actually checking the house, doing a perimeter walk, making notes, etc., it is between 90-120 minutes. So, TV is probably one of the few places where location, location, location shouldn't be your criteria. Eliminate areas/neighborhoods you truly don't like and then buy the house you like.

Re: Hemingway area

This is why we picked Hemingway:
1. We can take golf cart paths to LSL, SS, and Brownwood without going on any roads. We can get on the Morse path even before we leave Hemingway. If we want to take Canal, that is pretty close, too.
2. Close to shopping on 466A, and there's a new Walgreens right there!
3. Beautiful entry, surrounded by trees and golf courses.
4. Halfway between LSL and Brownwood.
5. Like being within the "Odell loop" (for no particular reason), and being between Morse and Buena Vista.
6. There's a small "girly" part of me that likes the Colony Cottages. I plan to spend some afternoons there with a thermos of tea, a fancy tea cup and a book.

Re: Hemingway area

We just closed this week on our new home in Hemmingway and are moving everything in and getting settled. We love the Hemmingway area, but agree every village in TV is a great place to be. We have found it very easy to get to everplace in TV and shopping, etc. Carazona5 you will like Colony Cottage Center, I am here now using the WIFI. Everyone we have had contact with in TV has been very helpfull.

Just wanted to add that the Colony Cottage is really beautiful. Chels and I were there for Jazz & tap lessons once, and that is a whole other story. LOL, Did ya notice the "once"??
