BUFFALO PETITION

Does anyone know who the lady was that had the buffalo petition? I would like to know what kind of response she received when she presented it.

I know that many letters were sent to the editor of the Daily Sun, but only two were printed.

Re: BUFFALO PETITION

I know her goal was to get as many signatures as possible (TV residents only) over the one weekend and present them to someone in TV on Monday. When I talked to her on Saturday evening, she already had over 12 sheets filled (front and back on most). Haven't heard a thing since, though.

Does anyone know the wording of the petition, and if so, would they please post them here?

Re: BUFFALO PETITION

Muncle, there really wasn't any real wording, at least not on the page I signed. The first page more or less asked that the buffalo not be taken away.

Re: BUFFALO PETITION

When I first saw in the paper that they were going to remove the Buffalo I called TV and talked to someone in the executive offrices and made our displeasure known. At that time I mentioned double fencing the area and charging anyone who is dumb enough to violate the first fence with tresspassing. We bought in TV a couple years ago, but have been coming there for over five years, the Buffalo are an integral part of TV. I sure hope they stay and that when we come down there in two weeks we won't be disappointed!

We are up north at the moment and have been out of touch with the buffalo issue other than what we read on TOTV. A simple question: Is there a chance to "Save the Buffalo!" or are we "beating a dead horse" (buffalo?)?

Petitions don't work.

Re: BUFFALO PETITION

I was just asking if anyone knew who the lady was because I was interested in the response she received.

To comment on the above comments:

1. A petition can work. I'm not saying it will in this case, but it certainly doesn't hurt to try.

2. I know people had offered to pay for the double fencing - or whatever TV deemed necessary for the buffalo's protection.

3. The buffalo have been moved. Cows are now in their place.

I would also like to see the wording of the petition. And I would hope TV would atleast publicly respond to it.

I find it very strange that the editorial page in The Daily Sun was not flooded with comments about the buffalo. TOTV had numerous posts on this subject. It makes me wonder if the paper did not want to print the comments they received. Thank goodness we have TOTV to voice our opinions and thoughts.

Re: BUFFALO PETITION

The Daily Sun received numerous letters about the buffalo. They, for whatever reason, chose to print only two.

Re: BUFFALO PETITION

The Daily sun is controlled by developer, so it follows naturally that they will print what is beneficial to their own interests, not what necessarily reflects the interests of the residents. Unfortuantely, they probably figure in the long run it isn't going to cost them any home sales, and will help them avoid any injury lawsuits.

Re: BUFFALO PETITION

I don't think moving the Buffalo had anything to do with lawsuits. It was just the excuse he uses because he knew people would be mad. Just sit and wait...that land will be turned into something that the developer wants...
Read about how he is treating the deaf concerning his Village TV station. See how many excuses he makes... He will do whatever he wants and say whatever he wants. Only power we have is we know he wants to sell houses.

If you don't have any trust in The Developer why are you living in TV?

Please understand the Radio, TV, Newspaper are all there to advertise The Villages and help the business of The Developer----selling homes. Yes, these media also provide us with information but the primary purpose is to further the business of The Developer. I do understand the concerns of the hearing impaired, but how many advertisers have closed captions on their TV ads.

I, too, am sorry the buffalo have been removed but we all know some people do stupid things and then sue. I can't blame the developer for trying to legally protect themselves.

I try to keep in mind The Developer--through his agents--offered me a house and a lifestyle for so many $. I paid the $ and The Developer has provided the lifestyle offered. The Developer will naturally do what is best for the business, but as any good business does, he will make every reasonable effort to keep us as happy as possible, as we the residents are his best and most effective advertisers. Never forget The Developer isn't operating a philanthropic organization for our benefit. The Developer is running a business----a very large and successful one.

Re: BUFFALO PETITION

Please let's not get off track of my original question.

I am not criticizing the decision made. I understand both sides. I just wanted to know if anyone here knew who the lady was that started the petition, and what Morse's response was to it.
