Tea Question

I have some tea I got from a friend. It's not tea bags or anything, just ground tea leaves in a tin can.

Any idea how I could 'perk' or brew the tea? It was really very good. I'd love to be able to prepare it somehow. I have a typical coffee drip percolator if that could be used.

You could put some in a piece of cheese cloth & tie it and put it in a cup of hot water. Or go to Walmart, or wherever, and get one of those little metal tea balls with holes in it that are for loose tea then you just put it in your cup.

Boil water in a measuring cup in the microwave or in a pot or kettle on the range.
Put 1 teaspoon per each cup you want to drink.
If you're making tea for a few cups, ad an extra teaspoon.

Let the tea "steep" and judge it by the color.
If you like dark tea, let it sit there for at least 5 minutes.
Use a small strainer held over your cup and there you go.

If you don't want to do it that way, buy a tea ball.

While we are on Tea . . .

About how long will tea leafs last in sealed containers before they turn bad?

.

Why don't you try making tea soup, with vegetables etc., and leave the leafs in the soup? That way you'll get some fiber in your diet.

I'm just teasing.

There are many different styles of tea infusers... Try Bed Bath and Beyond.

I prefer the mesh basket which fits into a cup

If you are thinking about going to loose tea on a permanent basis, this is a great site. I used them all the time. I own their "TriniTea" tea maker and it's great. I've also used several of their other products and order tea from them every few months.
