Irrigation Madness
I was awoken this morning (Saturday) at 4am by my irrigation kicking in.
I have it set for Tuesday at 6am, but it is currently turned off. A similar thing happened last summer, but I assumed it was a nearby lightning strike that triggered it. How can the timer, which is off, turn the irrigation system on, and at a seemingly-random time? Do I just need a new timer - it is maybe 15 years old? Thank you |
Suggest you give Jim Baumgartner a call. He can answer your questions fairly and honestly. He really does know everything there is to know about irrigation systems.

I am not very knowledgeable but the timer would be wired to the values outside of the home that turns the water on and off for each zone. If only one zone is coming on it could be a bad value. Maybe the area gets wet an a short turns on the water.

I had a prob with your basic Hunter controller getting a mind of it's own and running it's program multiple times a day on random days. I tried reprogramming it many times, including unpluging and removing the battery backup in an effort to wipe any and all memory. It continued to do the same thing.
I finally solved it by zeroing out the "A" & "C" programs and used the B program ... so far so good. While not exactly the same as yours as mine was "on" ... it might be worth trying. I have heard nothing but good things about Jim Bumgartner. |
Thank you, good people
I shall try a different setting, then call Jim if that doesn't work |
