A Plea to Smokers

As a former smoker, I have no quarrel with those who are still addicted to the little boogers.

However, throwing butts on the ground in this beautiful place is just wrong.

Throwing butts into the pine needles in front of Walgreen's is wrong and stupid, and will start a fire.

Yes, this really happened. It took my bottle of water and an employee running out with another bottle to tamp it down. Thank goodness it didn't get any bigger before someone saw it.

Sadly, you really can't fix stupid. Glad y'all caught it in time.

I never have smoked; lost my Dad 25 years ago this month due to his smoking. It is one of those incredibly nasty habits I can't stand to be around and cigarette butts are really a pet peeve of mine. You see them along the streets and roads, in parking lots, outside of businesses, I have found them in my yard that people walk by :swear:. A lot of fires are started each year along highways because people toss the cigarettes outside their vehicle and it's only a matter of time before a really good fire gets started in dry pine straw on a windy day in TV.

Selfish people, most smokers, in NYC store owners get fined $100's of dollars for not picking up the butts, but never have I seen a smoker fined for littering.

Personally, I think filtered cigarettes should be outlawed just like plastic shopping bags. Unfiltered cigarette butts dissolve in just days.

Cig butts are litter. I see them around greens/tee boxes and they will still be there next year EXCEPT someone has pickup others trash. Sad but most smokers don't consider their butt litter???

LOL.....He said BUTT LITTER !

The world is the smokers ashtray!
A truly disgusting habit that smells terrible and makes people ugly.

The good news is teen smoking is continually going down, Florida just reported its lowest teen smoking rate ever (7.5%). truth - Home

Easy to pick out the smokers on the road, they are driving 10 mph under the speed limit with the window down. No hurry to get where they are going, because they cant smoke when they get there...

I smoke on occasion, but I never throw my roaches away.

It's great news that teenage smoking rates are rapidly declining.
I feel so sorry for anyone who has spent a lifetime smoking - it's a powerful addiction.
But there is no excuse for discarding cigarette butts in public areas. It's a fire hazard.
I often see butts on golf courses :yuck:

Let me get this straight. Many posters favor increase pressure and penalties for smokers support the government's rules in forbidding smoking in public places but support legalization of recreational marijuana which holds more cancer bearing agents than cigarettes and now we have a campaign against e-cigarettes. Hmmmmmmm

I don't understand it either, but maybe they eat it in Brownies?

I lost too many family members due to smoking to ever support this habit. I realize it's an addiction, but I think it's still worth, kicking the habit.

I personally can't be around anyone that smokes as it makes me ill, but that's me. Beside who likes kissing, an ashtray. :yuck:
