I read the book by Lisa Genova. It was very touching, but oh so sad.
I really like Julianne Moore, but I don't think I want to see the movie.

I will not pay money to be sad. There are enough events in real life to cause sadness. That is not minimizing the horrible disease or walking away from the people who must deal with it daily. It just doesn't help to be sad.

We all know families who've suffered the awful decline of their loved ones with this horrible disease.

I wouldn't pay money to see more of that.

I go to movies for enjoyment and some laughter or intrigue.

My Mom's name is Alice. She has dementia. I read the book; it was wonderful. I am conflicted about seeing the movie.

I am also conflicted about seeing the movie after seeing my mom's 3 year journey with dementia end at 67. I really like Julianne Moore, but I'm not sure about seeing Still Alice.

This is a beautiful, yet heartbreaking performance by Julianne. It is not by any means an easy movie to watch as a matter of fact it scared me as this is one of my biggest fears. From a technical standpoint the movie is pretty paint by the numbers but her performance is brilliant. It is not the "look at me I'm acting" it is very subtle. I read the book after and understand why my son's girlfriend liked it more. In the book you get a deeper understanding of when she was lucid and not. There would have been to many "tricks" to show that in a movie.
