4 year old Samsung blu Ray playER will not play some new movies?

my player is wifi connected and states it has the latest firmware update....but it will not play some of the latest released movies.
Is it realistic the recoding industry has blown by equipment only 4 years old.

I have already contacted Samsung and all they did was confirm my unit does in fact have the latest update.

Does not seem right to have to buy new to keep up? Does it?

If it's over 4 years old, has the latest firmware, no future Samsung support and won't play discs, it's time for a new player.

For under $100 you can get a decent modern BluRay player and it will probably be the last one you buy. Around the holidays Ultra HD BluRay will hit the scene and after that I doubt physical media will be around much longer.

What happens? Do you get a code error? Or does it pause when playing movies?

A reddish background screen comes up with the explanation that this disc cannot be played without an firmware update to your player. It also gives a reference site to go to for various makers updates. I found it more expeditious to go to Samsung's site and did an online chat with a technician.

Veried that I indeed had the latest update to my player....whcich is what my player's wifi connection indicated as well.

My player still plays all discs until this last one. I will wait and see if/when it happens again.

Villages AV.com above has the industry sized correctly.
