Excessive dirt in PVs
Met up with a guy in the pool yesterday. Said he was a retired sheet metal worker. Saw them building Patio Villas using FIBERGLASS to fabricate the heating/cooling ducts. Said this was NOT a good material for this purpose. Constant air movement eats off the epoxy coating, subsequent air flow knocks off small glass fibers. These are not only dirty but very bad for people's lungs.
Google "Fiberglas hearing ducts" and see what you get. |

This seems like something the building codes and inspectors would cover. Here's a newer product….. KoolDuct is a pre-insulated, high performance air duct system for interior and exterior commercial, industrial and residential HVAC applications. KoolDuct is constructed from foil faced, CFC/HCFC-free, phenolic foam board that provides a minimum of an R-6 Thermal rating.http://www.ptmmanufacturing.com/kool...ase_study.html |
No matter what he said or you think, the homes here are built to code.

I did google fiberglass hvac ducts and insulations. Seems to be widely used and accepted by the building industry and regulators. And it appears to be a safe material for its application. And it's been used since the 1940s.

Wow. That guy has been retired for an awfully long time. |
no,no, no.........he said he was in his fortys............lol

I was under the assumption that they were no longer building Patio Villas.I guess I was misinformed.
|
Our patio only had excess dust, not dirt when they we're building across from us. Then again we had the same dust in the cottage when they were building then too.

Fiberglass duct work has been used in 99% of EVERY residential house in the entire USofA for the last 40+ years!

If you meet a retired plumber, don't be surprised to hear them say the PVC they use today for plumbing is no good too.:jester:
