'Room for Pool' homes?

I see many resale (and some new) homes that state "Room for pool". Conceptually I understand what this means as it relates to lot size, setbacks etc.

My question goes to checking the viability of that statement. In other words if i buy a resale that states that there is room for a pool are there other concerns that may not allow a pool to be built later. I'm thinking of things buried in the ground like water, gas, sewer pipes etc.

Is there any way that you could get a pool building company to give you an estimate on the accessibility of it without actually building it yet? I know there would be some costs involved for the estimate.

Has anyone heard of something like this or of anyone getting :edit: by this?

Thanks - Russ

very good question. How do you difinatively know?? Has anyone gotten a house in this situation and been told otherwise?

I did run into someone who ran into that situation and was unable to put in a pool because of some buried electrical stuff. Room for a pool does not mean there aren't easements or other such things that would preclude pool installation. I would suggest that you look at the property plans/deeds to make sure there aren't any restrictions, and also to go over it with the Architectural Review board before making a purchase decision, if it is your intention to put in a pool.

Good suggestion LD - I'd like to somehow get it in writing before committing to the purchase.

Russ....I know NOT why you'd bother to put in a pool. Why deal with the maintenance. There are so many nice pools in TV I'd rather be "chilling" than "cleaning". Unless of course your into swimming "au Naturale".

That's why I'd buy with 'room for a pool'. My intent is to buy without one but have the option to add one if conditions dictate. And by conditions I mean Mrs. Russ Boston.

Our house has room for a pool and the folks two doors over put one in. Any thing that is under ground can be moved if you really want it.Thats why we bought a house with this size lot for resale.O and a 5 minute walk to SSL no parking up town required
