directions from GA, 95
 

Any advice on best route into TV coming south from Inter 95 Georgia??? Would like to hear before 5 pm. Thanks. TV here I come.

I always take 95 to Jax and the 295 bypass to the west and then rt 10 to rt 301 and south on Rt 301 to the Villages. Beware the speed traps on 301. Go the speed limit and you will have no problems.

South on I 95 to I 295, just below Jax International Airport
Then west on I 10 to US301
Then South on US 301 to Bellevue which is about 10 miles south of Ocala
In Bellevue you will be on US 301 and US 441 and US 27
Stay on US 441 And US 27 for about 10 mikes and you will pass under The Villages golf cart bridge and make a immediate right at the light and you will be looking down Main Street right at the sales office at Spanish Springs.

But if you live south of 466, take the right fork onto 301 in Belleview (right past the Texaco)and it will take you to 446 in Oxford.

Zcaveman is correct....beware the speed traps on 301. Especially the town of Waldo. I think the speed limit is posted 30mph....go 28to be safe. Also...in some sections the speed limit will be 50. Then within about 100feet of the 50mph sign there will be another sign posting 40mph, closely followed by another posting 30mph. With nothing around on an open two lane road you will have to use the brakes to slow to 30mph. Many times I've seen unmarked patrol cars sitting off the road just beyond that last 30mph sign.

I agree with zcaveman. I have tried other routes from there but the 301 is really the most direct and least trouble. If you are coming into the south part of The Villages (Duval, Hemmingway, Hadley), I'd stay on 301 to Wildwood and turn left on 466A then turn on either Buena Vista, Canal, or Morse, depending on which Village you want to go to.

The so called speed traps are hardly traps. The limits are well posted with ample warnings and the speed limits through those built up areas are not unreasonable.
The reputations are a hold over from the days when they were real traps with speed limit signs hidden behind shrubs and trees.
I travel US 301 between The Villages and I 10 frequently and rarely see a police car. I set my cruise control on the limit. I think we owe it to the people living in those areas to observe the limit. I think the slowest is 45MPH for relatively short distances and that is fast enough.
