Discover Vacations?

We registered at their booth at Golf-fest. Received a call yesterday that we have "been selected" to receive one of 4 different types of vacations. In order to claim, we must attend a 90-minute presentation where we will receive all the details. As I understand we will have a couple of months to decide which vacation to choose, and a year to actually take the vacation. Our only obligation, supposedly, will be the taxes on the vacation, and perhaps some port fees if we choose a cruise. Has anyone had experience with Discover Vacations? Their rep assured me (upon my inquiry) that they have no connection to "Global Discovery Vacations", which has had plenty of complaints lodged against them.

This sounds like the typical time share scam, which will be followed by the very high pressure sales pitch, followed by the almost impossible to claim "vacation". I typically run from these offers. NO experience with this firm, this just appears to be a very similar tactic.
If you go to the presentation, do not sign anything, do not give them your credit card, and if you can get any paperwork to review, do a Google search and check with seniors against crime.

Sounds more like a "vacation club" where you are "guaranteed" to save money on airfare, hotels, etc. It costs bucks to join and then you will find that there is no savings to be had.

mac9, thank you, that was the other ploy I was trying to think of.

It's a scam. They will paint a pretty picture of all the great travel deals, but you can do better on your own with just a little research.
