climbing plant
looking to ID the wall-hugging, evergreen vine growning up some of the walls along the road way. Looks like a small leaf plant. Any ideas?

Could you be thinking of creeping fig?

I agree it is Creeping Fig. Just make sure you really like it because if you take it down it leaves suckers in your wall. Also you have to trim it occasionally because it will send out shoots that makes it look less tidy. Creeping Fig is a great cover for something that will be permanent. Getting ready to have it climb up a huge concrete wall I currently have as an eyesore (I am not in The Villages with this huge wall).

I have seen the creeping fig creep up a wall, and start growing upwards, turning into something viburnum like, stems up to 2" in caliper and leaves becoming 3"-4" long, and over 6' above the top of the wall. Was growing about a foot a month. Add this to the rest of the invasive habits :P

Are you able to post a photo? That would be a big help.
If not, if you can snip a piece off, take it to a garden/nursery, and I'm sure they can postively identify it for you. |
If this is growing on the walls you see headed east on 466 it is definitely creeping fig. You will see landscapers with their trimmers cleaning up the stray shoots.
