Iraq insists on withdrawal timetable
According to an AP news release today, it appears that Iraq will not accept any security deal with the US unless it contains specific dates for the withdrawal of US-led forces. President Bush has been opposed to such a timetable.... :dontknow:
What do you think about how will this play out before the election? |

Re: Iraq insists on withdrawal timetable
When are we leaving? I'll help pack our bags. I'll even buy a couple of one way flights out of there for some of our guys. We don't need another Viet Nam. Bring em home, now, alive and well. When they do come home, support them. No more lip service, real support. They will need it.

Re: Iraq insists on withdrawal timetable
What the difference is between the following:
Obama's Timetable for withdrawal from Iraq and Bush's Time Horizon? BAGHDAD, July 19, 2008(CBS/AP) In an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel, Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said he supported a plan proposed by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq within 16 months. When asked when he thinks U.S. troops should leave Iraq, al-Maliki told the magazine, "As soon as possible, as far as we are concerned." He added, "U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama is right when he talks about 16 months." :dontknow: |
