Men's Pedicures
There is absolutely no way I could imagine my father or any of his cohorts getting a pedicure back in the old days ~ they they wore fedora hats and carried guns. And even though I was bareheaded and unarmed, I know it was somewhat difficult for me to get that first one back in the '90s -- pedicures were just not something men got, kinda like eating quiche and drinking foo foo drinks with umbrellas and fruit on a stick. But the alternative being ingrown nails, maybe I'd try it.
But after that first one, with the massage chair, the salts, etc., I kinda realized that maybe it was more macho that I'd thought. |

Hey muncie If you think thats macho you should have your bikini line waxed.

Oh, and my girl friend loved the fact that my toenails were less deadly to her. |
Re: Men's Pedicures
GG - you may have a point there. For now I see now reason to part with my hard earned money on a pedicure. Of course, I have no issues with my toenails - might be a different story if i did.

Re: Men's Pedicures
I am a nail tech here in NJ and can tell you that when we get men in the pedicure chair... they think they have died and gone to heaven! Most of the male customers we get are newbies and are somewhat embarassed by the whole peddie thing. We reassure them it is a wonderful experience and try to relax them. Most guys think it is just too girlie for them. Once they relax and if they aren't too ticklish... they LOVE it! Then... they usually always come back. If you haven't tried one...do it. You won't regret it. Just make sure the salon you go to is meticulously clean and you have licensed techs.

Re: Men's Pedicures
Let's consider why 90+% of women get pedicures and 5% or fewer men get pedicures...
Probably for the same reason women dominate the makeup and hair product market. They are obsessed with their appearance. "Vanity" they call it...the same name as the piece of furniture they sit in front of spending hours applying all the stuff. It's also a peer pressure and competition thing. I thank God men are not obsessed with this practice, although they are becoming more so, unfortunately - the feminization of the American male. I appreciate a woman who is not so obsessed with this practice and who naturally has cared for her exterior - not lying in endless lazy hours in the sun or in a tanning booth becoming a prune in her 40's. I generally think of men as having other more worthy priorities and women having an excess of time on their hands. Now let's hear from the women! |

Mucci
Perhaps it's women taking better care of themselves and caring about how they look. I've always wondered how and why men can parade around with no shirts on and bellies hanging over their pant tops, wearing pants that show their crack when they bend over, boobs as big as some women and not thinking twice about going shirtless like they think that is something women want to see, wearing socks with sandals or socks up to their knees with sport shoes and/or sandals, combovers, and not associating with people who drive gas carts. Give me a break! Men need to spend more time with their appearance. Don't get me started on women having too much time on their hands... If you are married you wouldn't have come as far in life as you have and if you aren't married you could have come a lot farther. for us women! |
Re: Men's Pedicures
All of you men with diabetes, take care of your feet. And pedicure is part of it. It is not vanity but preventive medical care.

:agree: Bright. Go get'em girl!
How can women have too much time on their hands when they're so busy taking care of men! (Not to mention careers and children!) We're a triple threat and you know it Mucci! grrrrrrrrrr |
Re: Men's Pedicures
Men's pedicure - isn't that an oxymoron? ???

Now for one who has deep-seated doubts about himself and fears that such things as peds, wearing pastel shirts , or even doing the dishes will cause others to think him "light in the loafers", that might be the case. |
