Foreign Oil Dependence Numbers Made Easy

In the 70's it was 25%. Did we do anything about it?.....nope. Would have taken 10-20 years to see any effect!!!!!!!!

In the 90's it was 42%. Did we do anything about it? Uh-uh....takes too many years to see any benefits!!!!!

Today it is 72%. Are we doing anything about it? You jest!!!!!!!!!! The track record speaks for itself. You know....it takes too many years to see any benefits... :barf:

We send $700 Billion to OPEC every year. :barf:

The numbers come from the new T. Boone Pickens advertisement.

The complacent total idiocy of doing absolutely nothing....ever.....compliments of 35 years of the do nothing 545 in Washington and it's good old reliable expect even less constituency!!!!!!!

True partisan cooperation at it's best eh!

Re: Foreign Oil Dependence Numbers Made Easy

I congratulate T. Boon Pickens for throwing the power of his fortune behind alternative energy development.

I truly hope more of the movers and shakers get behind alternative energy as well.

We can not afford to continue to support nonrenewable energy resources. I don't care if they drill in both our back yards, as long as we are dependent on oil, we will be dependent on the Middle-east and South America for our oil. Let's stop now.

Investing in alternative energy is a smart investment. We need to put the internal combustion engine to bed, it's tired and old. There must be something out there that is better.

It's the little things we do that counts. Just spending a few dollars to buy reusable shopping bags made from natural fibers (no oil based products) will help us move away from oil. No more plastic shopping bags, or paper for that matter. (save a tree as well) Also reduce the amount oil used in recycling paper or plastic.

Use cleaning fluids made from natural resources (non-oil based).

Wear more cotton and other natural fiber clothing (non-oil based fibers)

I'm sure there are a ton of ideas out there for starting to reduce the need for oil in our every day lives. Share some with the rest of us.
