St. Augustine B&B

I had seen in the paper that a Villager owned a B&B in St Aug. We are looking to go up for a few days, any suggestions?

We stayed at the local Hilton. Right in the middle of things. A few doors down from a great martini bar and walking distance to the small downtown area. Nice !

Really, most of the St. Augustine B&Bs are quite small and rustic and expensive.

I would suggest contacting a realtor in St. Augustine who specializes in condo rentals on St. Augustine Beach. Most have a 3 day minimum. One very nice condo is called Ocean Villas. It is right on the beach.

Good place to eat in downtown St. Augustine is Barnacle Bills. Try the Datil Dusted Fried Shrimp. It has a little bite to it but delcious. A good, but quirky, restaurant is called Saltwater Cowboys. Lots of locals go there. I like the Fried Frog Legs there.

A Great brewpub is downtown and is the A1A Alehouse. They have an excellent IPA called Porpoise Point. Lots of hops flavor to it.

You will definitely enjoy St. Augustine. If you already have the Golden Age National Park Passport, use it at Castillo San Marcos.

As a PS to Sandtrap, we can't go to St. Augustine without eating at the Columbia restaurant.

I think the B&B mentioned is Old Powder House Inn. It's no longer owned by a Villager but it's very nice. We've stayed there several times and always enjoyed it. The breakfast can't be beat. It's not expensive and they usually have a special running. You can look online and pick out the exact room you want. I highly recommend staying there.

Another vote for the Powder House Inn. We have stayed there 3 times over the years and enjoyed every one. Big plus is location----and they have off street parking. Park and don't use car until check out! Nice place.
