I have changed my mind about the local Furniture store.

I hate negative posts. I hate negative attitude. I hate negative almost anything. I particularly hate posts that blame everything in ones life that is not good, even hot flashes on the developer.

That is why I haven't brought this up before because up until a few days ago I thought that the local furniture store was too high priced. We had strolled through twice, and I would like to point out that we have nice furniture in our Cincy house. It is not that stuff they sell in K Mart. It's not Henredon. Well I do have one piece of Henredon.........However my previous view on the LOCAL (I don't think I can name it ,can I Tony?) furniture store had nice things but more expensive than bargain breath here wanted to pay for it.

I have changed my mind. We found a grouping of pretty cottage type furniture made by a good manufacturer and priced it here in Cincinnati. I shop. I mean I SHOP, so I did my homework by foot and by computer....but Southern Li......I mean the local furniture store beat my best price and they deliver free and will hold it for you until you get there if they order it for you.

So I was wrong and glad to be wrong.

Sassy GracieGirl here who is gonna have white furniture for bedroom with cherry tops. Whoo hoo. AT A REASONABLE PRICE/

I read your post and can't say as I care for the title.......... :o

It tends to be misleading to those that don't take the time to read your entire post. We have purchased from Southern Lifestyles, Babettes and others and are happy with all our purchases and prices.

Russ_Boston 07-14-2008 04:58 PM

Who knew? Southern Lifestyles had the best price.

I agree with the post name - I would suggest you change it to something like I did.

Well, I'll go out on a limb and say I loved the title of your post---I cracked up! I love your writing style.

My mom is buying a entertainment center she really liked at the Southern place. She'll be down there in 2 weeks, I can't believe how fast moving day is approaching! :o

Thank you Chuckster. Village 07 sometimes refers to the developer as "The Benevolent Dictator" when someone is being particularly negative. You are right. I changed it.

GracieGirl,

I agree, we had a good experience with SL and enjoyed getting the 5% off as a resident as well. Also, they will hold the furniture and deliver it when we are ready at no charge. Makes for anxiety free shopping. Who knew? :dontknow:

Southern Lifestyles also has a 24 hour program. You can take an item home such as a lamp, wall hanging, picture, etc to see if it fits your style. If you want to keep it simply contact them and they will charge you from the info you already provided. If you do not like it just return the item in 24 hours. I did this with a lamp. I wasn't 100% certain in the store, but really loved it once I saw it in my home.

I don't care what you say, Gracie girl. I am sure the developer caused my hot flashes. 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl

Re: I have changed my mind about the local Furniture store.

We had looked everywhere from Mt. Dora to Ocala for a small antiquey looking desk to blend in with our victorian furniture. The last place in the world we thought to look was SL. I couldnt imagine them having that style of furniture when everything we looked at was so Floridian????

Popped into SL just as a last resort after being very discouraged and the perfect desk jumped out at me immediately. The biggest shocker was the price. It was less expensive then even the 2nd hand & consignement shops I had looked in. Well, we are pleased as punch with SL and next time we will START with them!

I too purchased all the furniture for my Villages home from SL. I happen to like many of the pieces from Ashley Furniture collections and did some comparison shopping. Even without sales tax (we don't have that in NH) the prices at the stores here were higher than at SL. They delivered when they said they would- in fact, my desk wasn't supposed to be here until August but it was ready for delivery when I was down at the beginning of July. I was pleased with the service, prices and selection.

We used Southern Lifestyles to buy a mattress (over the phone from Canada). They delivered it for free the day before we arrived. After 26 hours of driving, we were exhausted. Seeing the king-size mattress in place and waiting for us when we arrived at 9 PM in TV was pure bliss.

Southern Lifestyles even offer a 30 day "comfort trial". If not happy with the mattress after using it for 30 days, the purchasers can return it for another one.

Oh, and get this .... for free, they will send some big, burly guys to turn the mattress for you every three months.

I think SL is a great, well-run store! :clap2:

Re: I have changed my mind about the local Furniture store.

Well, we bought our house the day before we were flying back to Michigan. After closing, we had only had a couple hours to furnish it before stores closed because we bought with anticipation of renters. We went to SL off 27/441.

They had absolutely wonderful service and prices. We were able to entirely furnish our Villa within the 2 hours before they closed and found the prices very reasonable. We were able to custom order fabric for our sofas, too. Even though we were on a time crunch, our salesman was most accommodating and I can't say enough good things for this store.

But...I want to say this...the SL store at LSL seems to be higher priced. We visited it one afternoon for something to do and I was surprised that the furniture was not as economical as the store off 27/441.

Joan thought SL was too expensive on our first three visits here. Didn't think she would buy anything from them. But last week, she did...a couple of great SteelCraft recliners, a small mid-table, and a base cabinet for the yet to be purchased flat screen. We were pleased with the prices. Our "media room" (the Amarillo living room) will soon see action.

GF. Please share where you get your flat screen. That is next on our list.
