Slingbox tv

Anyone using Slingbox to access your cable service up north to provide service in TV?I know I need a Slingbox connected to my cable service and wifi up north and an Apple TV or Ruko box on my wifi and tv in The Villages. So I need to invest $250 to $400 in equipment.
Looking for feedback from folks using Slingbox.
Thank you.

We have slingbox with Dish Network back home but do not use it because we put Dish service on vacation hold when we are here.

We thought about it when we went away for a good while. But what happens if the power goes out at your home port? Doesn't someone have to come in and reset everything?

It's great and we love it.

We have done this, before we bought here and were renting.

I do not know what I am talking about though so I just asked Mr. Laurie.

He said you can just plug your laptop into the television. You need a good broadband connection at both ends.

If the power goes out at your source, if the router does not reset itself, as it should, then someone would have to reset it.

All we bought was the Slingbox. Once you have it set up, you can watch it on anything. We got it because I wanted to access recorded shows from home.

Hope this helps. Our Slingbox is kind of old. Things might be different with what is available now.

We use a Slingbox 500 to send our home TV service down here to Florida. We can watch live TV or access our DVR recordings. You need good, reliable upload speed at the box to send the signal reliably down here. Works fine most of the time, but it is not 100% perfect. But much better than paying Comcast, Century Link or Brighthouse for TV service down here. If you have a Roku box and a Slingplayer app on your phone, you can send the signal onto your big-screen TV. Works with Amazon Fire Stick as well. You may not get full HD all the time, but the technology is improving and better than it was just a year ago. If you have TV service in another location, a Slingbox will pay for itself in a couple of months. All you need is an internet connection down here in Florida.

Slingbox 350 in Wisconsin and a Roku stick in TV.

I use the Slingplayer app on my Windows 8 tablet and "project" the screen through Roku to our flatscreen.

Works better than the neo tv app for slingpalyer.

Don't have to pay for the android/iphone app for slingplayer.

Good upload speeds in Wisconsin make a big difference.
