Age Question

Hi everyone. New forum poster here. I had a question about the age restrictions on buying a home in TV. My wife is 6 years older than me. As I understand it, we could move in once she turns 55, even though I'll still be 49 (and she'll still be ticked that I'm under 50, but thats another story). If we were to move in and something were to happen to her before I turned 55, would I be forced to leave?

Thanks for any info.

Re: Age Question

EB....

Short answer...no problem; in fact the fair housing act allows up to 20% of the homes to be owned by persons under 55; the Villages is nowhere near the 20% limit; as long as one owner/resident is over 55, it doesn't count against the 20%.

In our area, they will resale to anybody. There are couples who are young. Don't know the details but one couple even has a little baby. I live in Ashland.

We bought new when both wife and I were under 55. It's not an issue.

Not an issue from what I was told.

MC - How is that allowed? (couple with child in Ashland)

I thought no one under 19 can be more than 30 days? Would they get the boot and be forced to sell if someone dropped a dime?

Please give us an address of where this baby lives.

A while back I asked where the person saw the school bus drop off children but got no reply. Still waiting for an address.

All I know is what the neighbors tell me.

I really can't understand why people insist on challenging a age rule of the community. It was not established for raising a family. It is what it is. It is for people who are now past that part of their life, wanting to make new friends with people that have common interests, keeping active and enjoying family and grandchildren visits.

I dont think it is that difficult that the person in charge of enforce the rules to follow A BIG YELLOW SCHOOL BUS to check where it goes. Something is not kosher here.

HB and I both 'conform' to the 55+ guideline (by a long shot...), but since owning here we are more clear than ever that this is exactly what it is: a guideline. From what I hear, TV isn't even close to the '20% exception rule,' and even so, there seems to be quite a bit of flexibility in that making the sale is the most important factor....

People are being honest and The Villages are telling them that anyone can buy in here. The Villages know the age of the people they are selling to...
If you are upset, you should be upset with "the family". Ask the people who bought 40 years ago what they were promised. The grandfather who started this development made promises and they have been broken. It is no longer a 55 and over gated community. Believe me I learned the hard way that much of what they told me to sell me -was not the truth.
They don't enforce anything except lawn ornaments.!! ;D

My wife and I are planning to buy into TV as soon as we sell our home up north. We are both over 55. I have to be honest with you. I would be more concerned if the major portion of the population were over 80. I don't think having some younger people around is a negative thing, it will keep us feeling younger. That doesn't mean I would like to have children or teenagers living full time at TV. I'm enough of a kid, for any neighborhood. :dontknow:

I don't know if this factual but I read somewhere that the average age in TV is somewhere around 68. Does anyone know if this is true? :dontknow:
