By the way, the system works very well, I had to use it BEFORE WE ACTUALLY MOVED IN sue to a faulty hot water heater. It was Sunday, no other options available for emergency service, and there was a strange smell coming from then hot water heater, called 911 from cell phone, gave my address, and within minutes a big red fire truck was at the house.
Fortunately there was no immediate problem, turned off power to hot water heater, FD confirmed no fire, and had the plumber repair it about 2 days later. Also had the occasion to call from my car, initial call went to Sumter county, then realized I gave them the wrong lane and called back, by that time I was in Lake county, and they were able to transfer me. |
Thank-you for posting this important information as a public service.
FAQ taken from the link What if I have my telephone service through my computer? Originally there were a number of problems with Internet 911 calls.** Those “problems” have been resolved, but the call‐taker may not have all of the same information that is provided by the normal hard‐ wired (house) phone.**Be prepared to answer questions! Here is my new question. Is there someone I can call before there is an emergency to make sure all the 911 information is correct. I would like to test my 911 without causing a disturbance. |
