Oak Tree

We have a large oak tree in our back yard. We would like to get it trimmed and have an estimate for $1100. They are just trimming two limbs not the entire tree. We are concerned about the over hanging branches above our master bedroom area. Does that price sound about right? Anyone know of any tree trimmers? :)

Boy, that's one thing that is sure more expensive in Florida. Here (Albany, NY area), that's what it costs to take down the entire tree ... and remove the stump!!!

Maybe you should shop around for prices. That seems very steep for merely trimming. Our neighbor here in MA just had her three trees trimmed of branches overhanging the house for $400 total.

Sounds way too high to me. (I am bargain breath) Keep looking. In this economic times everything is lower priced.

I put in a call to my lawn maintenance guy. He doesn't do trees that large but said he would have a name for me by Wednesday. Soon as he gives me the name, I'll pass it on to you. The people he recommends have been fair and honest so far.

That's very nice of you to do, Red!

I find the landscapers in TV to be extremely expensive.

In Los Angeles, trimming a very large tree completely would cost us about $300 maximum. Like the others said, I'd shop around. That price is outrageous.

Get a quote from Ace Master Tree Service, 245 1959. We had him trim our giant oak and were well satisfied and the price was less than half your quote. He also did another tree in our neighborhood and the results were the same.

Keep looking - Here in MA that would be the price for a VERY large tree - complete take down - stump grinding and removal of debris. I don't think it would even be that much!

If you're willing to shop (takes work) I'd shop that price.
Then make an offer that you feel is reasonable.

How long will this really take, even including his equipment costs???

I had a guy here (not Florida) quote me $1300 to "ventilate" my two oak trees.
The next guy said $300, I said how about $200 , right now, and I'll help, and he said OK.

Got it done in about 1/2 hour

I am not sure what the extent of the trimming is going to be to your tree. When the neighbor down the street had his oak trimmed, they bought in a rig with a telescopic arm, a dump truck, and a branch eater. It took three guys - some lifted into the tree by the telescopic arm - to do the work. It took half a day. I am sure that he paid big bucks for the job. The equipment alone was not cheap.

In NJ, I paid $300 for much more than that but they used ropes and cleats to get up and down.

In NJ, we've paid $200 to $300 to have trees taken down and the stumps ground. Sounds really high to me.
