We are back from our first ever rv trip!

We are back from our first ever rv trip! Had a great time. Learned the 25 ft Cruise America rv we rented is too small for us so if we consider purchasing one it would be 30 to 32 ft. Now. Question for rvers if we found one (resale at a dealer) for approx $50,000 how much would you pay for it? We have our eye. on one 2012 sunseeker 16,000 miles on it for 46,000?

Curious what it costs to rent an rv for a month

HH, I make this suggestion kindly ---
You might get more replies to your question if you entitle it "Question For RVers"
rather than "We".

Sent you a PM....

Yes. Understand I titled it wrong after it was sent but perhaps admin was nice enough to correct it. Am using my iPad which is more difficult for me than a desktop

hulahips 04-30-2015 07:18 AM

We only rented for one week and it ran approx $1500 which does seem high but worth gaining the experience!

Suggest you try PPL in Houston before you buy. They are a giant consignment facility and the salespeople do Not work on commission, so they try to help you get a good deal. After six months of 10 state shopping, we bought from PPL, drove to Houston to close the deal, rented a uhaul trailer to bring our car home on, and saved about $9000! Their website has floor plans so you can search efficiently (we wanted a specific floor plan). Try it

hulahips 04-30-2015 12:17 PM

What is a Ppl? We are new to the Rv world and have a lot to learn yet

What did you think of the RV parks that you stayed at?

With the size RV that you rented you were able to get in the state parks. Did you use them? Did you try any of the KOA's or other private parks? Did you enjoy them? Where they what you imagined?

We went with the villages rv club which was a great idea! Park was good, villagers great and we did to get our feet wet and see if we think we might want to become RV ERS. We still have a lot to learn and by joining the rv club we'll be in good hands. It was just a quick trip (4 nights) to Ga but worth the experience

Go to RV Consumer Group - We Rate RVs and some time doing research. There are MANY issues to consider other than price. Items such as safety and load capacity are important. This site is the consumer reports for RVs. A motorhome is a big investment....take some time and get educated first! You will be sorry if you don't! BTW, when I retired 10 years ago, we sold our home, bought a used 36' class A and full timed for 3 years before buying a home here. (Still use our motorhome for trips to the beach.)

Good luck!

Come on HH. Give us details about the trip, whEre you went, where you stayed, what you saw.

We went to Savannah Ga with the Rv club in the villages. Had a great time. Went to Mrs Wilkes for dinner (soooo good!) Did hop on/off bus river walk, air force museum etc. Great overall experience!

I am curious whether you found the 25 foot RV easy to drive.
I assume it was OK since now you're looking for a larger one.
Some of the larger RVs and Fifth Wheels look intimidating to me!
Were you able to drive it or did your husband do the driving?
(If that question is too personal, please just ignore it.)

hulahips 05-01-2015 06:45 AM

My husband did the driving without any problem. However that being said if we end up buying a 30 to 32 ft we will have to tow a car behind us!
