Moving from MA to TV

We are moving to TV in June and are trying to choose a mover from the 3 suggested by TV relocation. Based on reviews we have read, we are leaning toward Mayflower. Can anyone provide experiences either good or bad with them?

Be sure the mover picks up in your area.

We used a company called Pack & Ride. They drop off a trailer in your yard.,you pack it and only pay for the space you need in the trailer. They then pack the rest of the trailer with dry goods for Walmmart or someone like that drive it down . You then call them when you arrive here . They drive to your house and drop the trailer in your driveway. You unpack it and the come back to pick up the empty trailer. We absolutely loved doing this because we couldn't be in Florida for 3 weeks and they stored the trailer in Ocala and waited for our call to deliver, Great company. Their toll free number is 1-866-550-7225 their website is packandride.com. Good luck and if you have any questions give me a call at 508-868-7237...My name is Mark

Allied

We used Allied movers and we moved from Upstate NY. We were pleased with them.

we wouldn't have been able to pack a trailer of furniture by ourselves.

I had friends & relatives help out. Once we were here we unloaded what we could then hired someone to unload the heavy stuff

Move from MA to TV

In 2011 we used a moving company by the name of Issac's Moving and Storage
181 Campanelli Parkway Stoughton, MA 02072 781-436-4787. The agent we worked with was Daniel Smith. We had not problems and they were more than competitive on price.
Good luck with your move and welcome to the Villages.

Before you pack anything make sure the item will fit your new lifestyle in TV.
We are more casual here in TV.No fine china or fancy silverware.Solo cups rule.
The dark heavy furniture of MA is not a good fit for the light and bright furniture of TV.
Again, make sure you will use the item in TV before you pack it.
Might be a good time to pass on the heirlooms to the kids and grandkids.

I used Mayflower to move from MN to TV. They exceeded my expectations.

We moved from Attleboro MA to The Villages in 2010 and used ABF. Same experience as Bosoxfan. They dropped off trailer in our driveway, 3 days to load, used friends and relatives to help, put up wall and lock off your belongings and then they fill any unused space on goods coming to FL (not other home goods). Then they hold in Ocala and deliver to your driveway here and you have 3 days to unload. Much cheaper than major moving companies suggested by The Villages and they were not accommodating on providing an exact delivery date. If they come too soon, they unload, store and charge you for 2nd move. Villages will not let anything in your driveway until after you pass papers at closing. We closed at 9am and trailer came at 1pm. We used charter school football players to help unload (don't think they do that anymore though).

How much do you think you saved vs a traditional mover?

raynan 08-04-2015 04:21 PM

Thousands. My neighbor here is moving to Reno and hired ABF for a move this October and said it was $2400 cheaper than the major moving companies. He's hired people from U-Haul to load here and to unload there.

We just got here 3 weeks ago. We used ABF pack and go (or something like that). We hired 2 guys from a company they recommended. We only used 7 feet of space and, since we had almost everything boxed up, it took only 2 hours for them to load it up.

When the trailer got here we hired The Village movers to unload it.

The only thing I would warn anyone about is that the trailer, trucks or pod may leak. So be sure to protect anything you do not want to get wet. We lost a small throw rug and an arm of a couch got a bit wet.
