Lesco Fertilizer Delivery
There is a provider who delivers bags of Lesco fertilizer for palm trees to homes in The Villages and has been listed on TOTV. I have used their service, but have misplaced their name and phone number. Does anyone have this information that you might share with me? Thanks.

It's called "Fertilizer Direct" (352) 205-7810

Do they put it on the palms, too?
I have been schlepping bags of Howard fertilizer around and I am growing quite tired of doing that. The Lesco brand would be fine with me, especially if they do the application. Lazy Laurie |
A hazardous materials applicator lic. is needed to apply the fertilizer, I think brokering is a different lic.. Sounds silly I know, but fertilizer is a hazardous material.
If your lawn guy is spreading fertilizer or spraying round up for you, he could be fined a LOT of money (compared to what you are paying him to do it) if caught. And the guys with the proper lic. do call the County when they see Bubba the Lawn Guy doing what they had to go to school (or work under another's lic. for 4 years), pass tests and pay thousands every year to be allowed to do. No money out of your pocket, but I know of one lawn guy that had to sell all his equipment to pay the fine. |
The Lesco 8-2-12 is pellets and very easy to apply yourself. Just spread it around the base of your palm every couple of months. It works like a charm. The Fertilizer Direct number listed above is the one I was looking for. Thanks!

Thank you to all for this information.
I think I will have the Lesco delivered next time. Even though I will have to apply it myself, I will not be as likely to put the job off if the stuff is delivered. Most of the hassle is in finding it and dragging it home. I have been putting it at the drip-line. I hope that is right. |
If you have decorative landscaping blocks around your palms, beware! If you spill any of these pellets onto the blocks they will burn brown spots on the top of them! The Lesco man never bothered to tell me this when he dropped off my first bag and gave me a short lesson on how to fertilize.

In the past, the delivered Lesco is also a bit cheaper than at the John Deere store also. Another advantage, and it really is easy to apply.
