Car Registration
How do I register my car in Florida?
Do I have to bring the car somewhere or just the Title and insurance papers? |
If this is your permanent home and your permanent address you will need to register your car here and get a Florida drivers license. You will need your title or if financed the name and address of who holds the title. You will need proof of Florida Insurance. You will need your vehicle so they can verify the VIN. Having said all that the process is extremely friendly. You do everything at one location (in our case on 466A). We sat in the waiting room about 15 minutes then vehicle registration, drivers license, voter registration and Homestead verification took another 20 minutes. We walked out the door with a license plate, a temporary license plate (her car needed a vanity plate), homestead verification and registered to vote. The personnel were friendly, smiley and took the time to answer any questions or provide directions for other services. Back in PA all that would have taken....hmmmm.....forever! Oh, take your checkbook, registration is expensive.

I did not want to take my motorhome to the vehicle registration station, so I filled out this form, and called the Sheriff's Dept. They sent a deputy to the RV park, he validated the form and it went as smooth as can be at registration.

We've registered cars in many states due to moving because of my job. The DMVs here in TV have to be the most friendly and helpful. We used the office on the corner of 466 and Morse. Couldn't have been a more pleasant experience.

One more item, if you use a credit card there is 2.5% charge, so the check will save $$$, we paid an average of $400 per car (daily drivers), and about 1/2 or less for antiques.
