I'm watching On Golden Pond. I think the last time I watched it was in 1981. I had fond memories of the film but now it's just plain difficult to watch.The old age stereotypes and the over acting should be criticized. What a shame two of the greatest of all actors of all times participated in that schlock.

It goes against reason. They were not young pretending to be old.

Isn't it interesting how we view movies differently as we age?

Watch '12 Angry Men', that never gets old. Lee J. Cobb and Jack Warden were two of my favorites.

After visiting Squam Lake, the shooting location of On Golden Pond, a number of years ago, my wife and I decided to watch the movie again.

I agree. Almost all of the movies made back then were over acted and corny. We couldn't believe how bad it was.

It is not a positive film, especially if one is older, and feels the end, is imminent.

One great line in the movie is, when the daughter complains to the mother that she never had a friendship with her father.

Kate, the mother says, "your father is going to be 86, when do you expect this friendship to begin"? :D
