What's up with the recent rash of men beating on women?
 

In the past week, it has been reported in the "other paper" three different men beating up their wives or girlfriend. What is going on?

I don't know. But it makes me want to beat up on those men.

We were joking, but it is a serious and sad subject.


I know that there is always more violence everywhere when the heat index is way up, but these are people who think it alright to smack people around.


No easy answers. Support women's shelters and refuge centers and pray they get out before someone kills them. When you add drugs and alcohol into the mix of a beater, you have disaster for sure.


I am so blessed that I know a lot of big, strong men, who would never lift their hand against a woman, and nice strong women who wouldn't hit men.

Guess the online news got tired of reporting about drunks and switched. I wish it was just a recent rash. Sadly, it is an ugly secret most of the time. Even more tragic, there are some instances here where the man would have never hit his SO had it not been for dementia or medication. I do pity these men. For the others, I would love to see them pilloried and let us females have a go.

some lose control here in the villages of them selfs and their wife's. I also think lots on prescribed mind alter legal drugs ( so does this make the doctor's legal drug pushers?) Believe it or not it's two way street. Some wife's beat their husbands, but hardly ever reported.

I was once working a hotline where a woman called, screaming for help. Turns out she had her husband trapped between the fridge and the counter and was beating him a skillet. She literally couldn't stop. Took three police officers to pull her off.

One of the major differences, though, is that the woman rarely can inflict the type of damage a man can. Most just don't have the upper body strength. Another difference is that most men are too ashamed to admit "the little woman" is beating up on them.

Physical abuse is wrong. When people quit thinking that getting physical is okay in any form, wars might just become a thing of the past. I can dream, right?

I still believe that our local Sumter, Marion, and Lake County libraries should have a link to this as looking at the library web-site might mask some woman or man's attempts to hide looking for help from their partners. Sheriff's Offices too but if you are looking at Sheriff's Offices web-sites you probably are very close to asking for help. Facebook and Talk of the Villages also can hide this kind of search I assume in the Google or some other search engine history?

I represented some prisoners who had done these kind of deeds among many other crimes. This was when I was at Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners attached to the University of Minnesota Law School. I could empathize with victims/survivors though having gone through the Michelle Mitchell 2-24-1976 murder investigation, trials, appeals, etc. when are still on-going in Nevada courts and/or media.

Your right women out come usually much worse. I use to work with guy back in the 80s that couple times month came to work with black eyes and scatches ect.., I was puzzled I asked the guy next to me, what the deal with "antique" ( was his nickname) he said him and/or his wife get drunk and she starts beating on him.:wine::beer3:
