OH my, this brings back memories. I remember these and the yearly updates. I recall my parents had 15 or 20 years of updates before they stopped.

When I was in third grade, my parents bought Compton's Encyclopedia for me.

I was so happy and decided I would read the whole thing.

I got as far as Akron.

I remember we had a set of encyclopedias called "Books of Knowledge".
That's how I found out that babies aren't delivered by the stork. :angel:

As a kid, I had to go to the library to do research. My favorite was the Donnell Library, across the street from MOMA in Manhattan.

All my reports and my brother and sister's reports, when we could pick the subject started with the letter A. That's because the Acme sold the Letter A volume for fifty cents. My mom knew a deal when she saw one.
