Jewelry Store recommendations

Looking for recommendations/advice for a good place to have jewelry repaired. I have a ring that needs to have some prongs built back up or replaced. Two stones are a little loose. Thanks in advance!

Gause & Son in Ocala on the town square. I have had personal experience with them. They have been in business since 1950. Gause & Son Jewelers

I trust my "stuff" to them. (I don't know how to spell jewelery.)

I would suggest PLAZA JEWELERS on Rte 441 in the shopping center where Sears and Little Joeys is located. This jewelry store is a mom and pop place owned by Villagers and they have a full-time jeweler on-site who does repairs, sets stones, buys gold and sells major jewelery pieces.

If you are considering buying that special piece of jewelry, such as a diamond anniversary ring or other similar piece, highly recommend you stop by Plaza Jewelers and talk to "Adelaide" . There is no pressure to buy and in your first meeting with her, she wants to get an idea of what you want, your knowledge of jewelry (4c's), and what you can afford. She may show you some individual stones and settings but based on your input she most likely will find the stones you want from her multiple suppliers....especially if you are looking for something "certified" by GIA. If you want to be discrete in your purchase, it can be arranged.

Believe me after going through this process myself, I met with a number of local jewelers, looked extensively on-line (ie. Blue Nile), and even thought about making a trip to NYC, and I can tell you not all stones, even those certified, with the same grading are equal.....and its very easy to get confused. Adelaide talks to her suppliers describing your needs, then pre-screens the stones she gets before she calls you to come back for a return visit. My experience is best described as "having a jeweler on your side" assisting you in the purchase as opposed to someone simply trying to sell you a final product.

Plaza Jewelers

I also recommend Plaza Jewelers. They do excellent repair work for a fair price. I had a lobster claw clasp replaced on a chain, and not only did they replace it, they gave me back my original 14 kt gold clasp which many stores neglect to do. That is one of the ways that I judge the quality & honesty of a jewelry store. I had some bracelet links removed by another store here in TV, & they would not have given me the old links back if I had not asked for them, & those links were worth over $30 in scrap gold price.

We also made a large purchase through them, and I had searched the web for competitive pricing on the item we wanted. Plaza came through with a better price than I could find on the internet.

I highly recommend Art's Works (nt in Villages)

They are a little shop in Leesburg, just off of 441, past the Leesburg Mall...Left when you come to Walgreens, small shop on right.
They repaired my watch (stem was broken), fixed with no charge...
