Leg/foot cramps
Over in the Feminine Forum there's a topic called Restless Legs where Susan & Tom gave a great tip for leg cramps!!!
I'm prone to getting foot cramps; I suspect it's because I don't drink enough water or perhaps don't get enough potassium in my diet? The cramps come usually when I'm lying in bed or even sometimes when asleep or when I extend the muscles of my foot - sometimes mild cramps and sometimes very painful. Anyway, Susan & Tom gave the tip to bite your lower lip and the cramp will subside. Last night I had a mild cramp in my foot.......... bit my lower lip ....... and in a few seconds the cramp stopped ! I'll have to try it on a more severe leg cramp, next time it happens!!! THANKS FOR TIP Susan or was it Tom ? Any other information on leg/foot cramps? |
Re: Leg/foot cramps
Hi CIB,
I can relate to this. I too have Restless Leg Syndrome and cramps seem to come along with it. Sometimes, with the most painful ones, my toes get all gnarled up. I've found that if I run some really, really hot water in the tub, sit on the edge and put my feet in, it helps the cramp subside. With the less severe cramps, just getting up and walking around helps me. Either way, it's a bummer to have to get up in the middle of the night and tend to it, isn't it? Love to hear other suggestions. |
Re: Leg/foot cramps
Did anyone ever hear of the toe cramps called charlie horses?? I wonder where that expression came from?
What a wonderful tip from Susan & Tom. So simple and it works??? |
Re: Leg/foot cramps
For me, it is a banana a day. I can guarantee if I go two days without eating one, I'll get cramps that night. Gotta love the potassium in them.

Re: Leg/foot cramps
CIB's, out of curiosity, how come you decided to start a new thread? Wasn't the thread under Fem Forum enough? I often wonder why people post secondary threads when there's one already on going? It sort of confuses issues, don't you think?

Re: Leg/foot cramps
PLEASE SEE "RESTLESS LEGS" IN THE FEM FORUM. This is a duplicate thread and not needed.

Re: Leg/foot cramps
:agree: Kathie and Chelsea
Adding a new thread only compounds the already present issue of too many duplicates here and makes it difficult for others to find important information. Splitting this subject into a new thread makes navigating the site more complicated. |
Re: Leg/foot cramps
Are leg and foot cramps limited to only women. If not, the posting is where it should be!
|
Re: Leg/foot cramps
1rnfl Caroline, not limited to women. That's not the point. Duplicate threads just tend to confuse people. And are you really naive enough to think all the guys don't read the Fem Forum? :dontknow:

Re: Leg/foot cramps
Ummmmmm....... I think I placed this topic on the health forum because it is related to health and not necessarily a feminine issue. Furthermore, I was under the impression that Restless Leg Syndrome and leg cramps were two separate issues.... I stand corrected. Upon research in my Nutritional Healing book, I see that they both have a connection.
I'm so sorry if I have violated any forum rules, or confused anyone ........ ::) |
Re: Leg/foot cramps
Thought you ought to know, I wasn't interested in "restless leg" and never viewed same. However I sometimes have severe calf cramps during the night. This thread interested me and applies to all of us. Thanks CIB for the thread and the tip.. :)

Re: Leg/foot cramps
What happened to the "bar of soap cure" I was gonna be reincarnated as bar of soap next time around ;D |
Re: Leg/foot cramps
1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl Handie! I knew you guys were reading the Fem Forum! Nutcase! ;D
|
Re: Leg/foot cramps
Leg cramps was a topic heading on the left side of the Forum at one time.
I have a difficult time understanding why a man would avoid the topic if it related to him even if it was under the Feminine Forum. I would think anyone, including men, would read the thread if it resembled anything close to a personal condition. Scratching my head....what's up guys? (Not including Handie who reads any and all Feminine posts....lol.) |
Re: Leg/foot cramps
Chuckster........ you're welcome ;) Although, the tip about biting your lower lip to stop the foot cramp, came from Susan & Tom so I also thank her/him! ;D
