Internet options

We are moving to the Village of St. Charles next month from Maryland. We do not plan on a landline phone and have direcTv service. What are our options for high speed Internet service.

I'm also from Maryland, Harford County area. We are also north of 466A in Tamarind Grove. That's around the corner from St. Charles, we are just off St. Charles Blvd. near Sterling Hgts Rec Center and Southern Star/Yankee Clipper executive courses. We also have Directv and back in Maryland we had Verizon with a home phone with no long distance for $21 a month and Verizon internet. Here, there is very little Verizon, only cellphone and they are not good in this area.

Here your choices for internet will be Century Link or Comcast. We had not liked Comcast back in Maryland and had gone to Directv because of them. So here we contacted Century Link. I said I want a landline with no long distance like I had in Maryland and I want internet. They said we don't have any landlines like that. I said, well just give me the internet. This was four years ago, they said 10 mpbs is $50 a month, but for $59.99 per month, you can have the internet 10 mpbs and a home phone with unlimited long distance, caller ID and call block. So we took the package deal for $59.99.

It works out nice, having a home phone and not having to use the cellphone all the time. We also noticed the Verizon cellphone was not very clear and was spotty. We eventually dropped that and got an AT&T Go phone. We get a 1000 minutes for $100 which is good for a year and the flip phone was $15. It's all we need since I didn't want a smart phone. Having Directv is good, because they are the only provider of NFL Sunday Ticket, we have never missed a Ravens game.

we had a landline 'bundled' with our centurylink prism setup. we use it as a fax line. it also is the only recipient of sales calls......beeeeeeep...bzzzzzzzzzzzzz..beeeeeeep

ps. I recently dropped the phone in favor of 100 more channels for less and replaced it with magic jack ironically hooked into my centurylink router...$35/yr

We use Comcast for Internet our own cable modem and Magic Jack for phone. Works great. the phone is around $30/YEAR with free long distance and caller ID etc.

I have Brighthouse, 3 weeks ago it wasn't working right on Internet, they have been here several times and can't fix it.

They claim there's too much traffic bandwidth wise in the area, so we've been using our Verizon hotspots for now.

Tom I think I'll take you up on that deal.

Love them or hate them, Comcast does have fast extremely reliable Internet and that's a very competitive offer...

Is this an introductory, limited-duration offer?

I am a long-time Comcast Internet-only user and I pay $49.95 per month for Performance Starter (6 Mbps down). Can you switch me to Performance for $19.99?

How long is that $19.99 good for before the next bump?

Is it for new customers only?
