Same Sex Couples Welcome In The Villages

Gay couples at home in the Villages | Tampa Bay Times

This is an excellent article from today's Tampa Bay News about how welcoming The Villages is to gay and lesbian couples. These couples are moving to TV for the same reasons that any others move here, namely the amenities.

This article explains how TV is becoming more diversified and welcoming to all. This good publicity should only have the benefit of attracting people from all walks of life and all political persuasions. Thank you Tampa Bay Times.

Thanks for posting this. I know several gay couples in the Villages and they seem to be treated well by fellow Villagers. They are some of these on TOTV.

I would suggest that this thread be moved out of political. This is information of general interest and belongs in the regular area.

I would agree except that the article mentions that The Villages is a haven for republican candidates and that the developer is a big GOP supporter and encourages his employees to do the same.

It also mentions that 30% of TV residents are democrats.

There are enough political comments in the article to qualify the thread for the political forum.

This article pretty much confirms what I feel, not only about the Villages, but the nation as a whole.

It is, nor ever was, about the gay lifestyle; that is a personal choice to be respected.

It IS about the politics that the Democratic Party has attached to it.

It is a POLITICAL movement that is abrasive, confrontational, arrogant, and full of names and labels to attach to people.

If you could remove that element, everyone would be happier.

Actually, with few exceptions, I feel the same way about race issues. The Democratic Party has set back a lot of progress by the preaching to people who get it, and labeling groups of people in such aggressive arrogant ways.

They seem to want that confrontation instead of talking

Not trying to take over the post but to the post about the democratic party they are just manipulative. Wolves in sheep's clothing trying to destroy what should be left alone.

Why wouldn't they? Their money is green also. What really surprising hard core democrats liberals moving here knowing the developer a nasty republician. But I guess their escape from there heavily taxed state overrides there politician indoctrination. Hopefully they will stay out of politics so this heaven won't Get corrupt, taxed to death, and go bankrupt.:eclipsee_gold_cup:

I need to be clear on this.

Once the activist movement invaded the Democratic Party in the 70's, they proved how to get votes. Up to then, any movement within the democrats on race or any other personal rights was non existent. Facts is, the Republicans were out in front on most of these issues.

In the 70's they embraced the black activist groups who promised to deliver votes.

Now, why I say I need to be clear, a lot was accomplished by this pact. How much of it would have occurred without it, nobody can say, but the positives were secondary to the negatives.

The gap between parties began to widen. An entire generation of young blacks were actually taught that anyone who is a Republican hates you.

Let's be clear. Racial misdeeds were and are done by democrats as well as Republicans, problem is that the entire racial discord is political.

Same thing applies to the LGBT movement. Once the activist sold the party, they were now in charge.

Again, there has been much good done by these activists..much, but the harm to our political system and to the country is ever present.

Democrats think that they must be loud and aggressive in their movement and that there is only one way to solve problems...THEIR WAY.

it is getting worse by the day. Sanders entry into the primary is pushing Clinton even further left, and that great Democratic Party is now a party of activists. They have grown to actually disrespect basically all American principles.

Politics can, and probably should play a role in these social issues, but their role....the political aspect, is now pretty much 100%

Frankly Who cares??? With much more important issues to be concerned with ex the economy, lack of affordable health care, terrorism, illegal immigrants, lack of education for the kids, crime in major cities , let the gays move on in along with the trans genders and maybe we can chat with them at our local pools on how to solve the world crisis we are in

You are correct in a way.

Problem is our government is now not involved in running the government; i.e.. foreign policy, etc, but more involved in social movements.

The most active of our politics is in social movements

Poster #10. you are correct and they had created a mess by meddling and by their overreach and one only has to pick up any newspaper any day of the week to see why

Guest 07-04-2015 02:36 PM

Who cares? Nobody. No more now than before all the hype and bluster began.

Just another meaningless, no value added BS article and thread.

I had a very similar reaction to this thread as you. When I first read the title - Same Sex Couples Welcome in The Villages - my first reaction was "and why wouldn't they be?" As you said, it has been the politicizing of all of this that has made it so ugly, as politics often does. Treating each other as individuals deserving of respect despite our differences, is when things will change. Government intervention will not bring people together as acceptance, tolerance, and love cannot be legislated. No heart matter can be. What I think some of the people in the groups you point out in your post do not understand is that a person doesn't have to agree with them to care about them. Even my best friends and family members have beliefs that I don't agree with or characteristics that I may not like, and vice versa I'm sure, but that doesn't mean I don't care for or like THEM as a person. Too many people today are willing to give up their own personal identity to identify with a group mentality. As a result, I believe logical, open minded thinking begins to go out the window as the agenda becomes more important than the individual.
