McIlroy out for the Open??????
 

After a ruptured ligament in his ankle, world No. l Rory McIlroy chance to defend his Open Championship appears slim.

I had not heard about this injury to young Rory. It doesn't surprise me.

Hopefully physical therapy is all he will need. If it is unstable afterwards he may need an ATFL surgical repair - two months in a cast (been there, done that). He used the term "complete rupture" - that doesn't sound good. I believe these sorts of injuries are typically a tear that will heal by itself.

Apparently he was playing soccer with some friends - stuff happens.

Just curious...why is that?

If a person decides to enjoy life...crap happens...as it is there has been no time table for his return and only he and his doc know if he'll compete in the OPEN....it has been called a sprained ankle in lay mans terms...
