Pet Peeves

Several people, over the years, have created posts about annoying incidents. I thought, "Why not get them all out in one place?" So I'm starting this thread.

I probably have a lot of them and I think that it helps to share them. I think that it makes us feel better to get them off our chest and have other people agree with us.

I'm trying to get to a point where when something happens that really annoys me, I try to put i into perspective, let it go and calm down. It's not easy, but I'm trying. Really.

So yesterday we went and picked up a few things at Sam's Club. My first pet peeve is that Sam's treats all of their customers as theft suspects. I hate that I have to wait in line for an employee to pretend to check the amount of items in my basket against my receipt. One of these days, I am just going to go around the line and not show my receipt and see what happens. I believe that they have no recourse except to come out to the parking lot and accuse me of stealing something, in which case I could tell them to call the police. Since they have no probable cause to stop me, I don't believe that they would even bother to stop me. I don't believe that the would call the police nor do I believe that the police would respond.

The second thing is a huge pet peeve of mine. Once we finally get "frisked" by the employee, we are about to go through the door to go on with our day and a guy in front of the person in front of us has stopped dead in his tracks just outside the door and is checking his receipt, making it impossible for the people behind him to get through the door.
People seem to have no idea of their surroundings. This guy was clueless that there were people behind him.
This is really dangerous when people do it at the bottom or top of an escalator. I've had it happen to me many times.
Are people really this dense?

So there's my rant for today. I'm now chilling out. Thanks for listening.

Another store pet peeve. I waited for,the doors to open and they did not. Eceryone went in the exit door and started shopping. The person manning the door stopped me and told me I had to wait till the store was open. It was now 10 minutes past door opening time. Come to find out the lady did not even know what time of day the store opened to regular customers on a saturday. I explained she needed to call the manager or store sexurity up front. Guess what, it was also Sam's club. My last visit there ever. The shopprs thatblock the door checking something, along with the charity seekers are also a,peeve,of mine.

My biggest pet peeve is people that leave their grocery cart in a parking space. I understand some people have a handicap and it is an effort to walk it to a place for carts, but I have seen many able body people just leave it next to their car. How would they like it if that cart went flying & put a dent in their car?

So true

Too bad they don't yhink of returning the cart as exercise. Walking for most able people is an excellent and free exercise.

Mine is people driving cars with dogs in their laps

Mine is people who park and leave their car at the entrance to the front door of rec centers.

I looked. No handicap stickers either.

Am I missing something or am I just too critical?

Going into a ladies room, no place to hang your coat, purse, bags, etc while using bathroom. Gross. Put your stuff on a floor loaded with germs?? Yuk. Easier for a man. Should always be hooks or small table for personal items to set down

And we boys don't have to sit or hover...........life is easier for us.

Unrepaired ball marks on greens, unrepaired divots on tee boxes and fairways, half-ass attempts at raking bunkers, testosterone filled males who think that have to play from the tips, people that are just starting to play golf and use the courses as practice facilities instead of going to a driving range to learn how to hit a golf ball, slow play, people who walk the sidewalk behind my home on St. Charles and throw their cigarette butts in my yard, the guy down the street that has had a construction project going on for about a year now, people sprinkling their yards during a rainstorm - really not much bothers me.

Use of the word(?) "irregardless".

Re the construction project on St. Charles that has been going on for over a year....and looks like it won't be done soon...what gives with that? I thought that construction duration in TV had to be completed within 1 year or is that just for new homes?

I make Sweetie hold my purse. He is so good looking and I think a man holding a purse slows down the gorgeous women who might try to chat him up.

They did plant some palm trees yesterday; still a lot of work to do, though.

Ditto! We joined Sam's Club four years ago, quit two months later, and never looked back. No "deals" are worth putting up with their abysmal customer service. And yes, we, too, are tired of being accosted for a donation at the checkout stand, lobby or front door of every retail outlet we visit. Charity is a very personal choice, and the reactions of some store personnel when you say "no" are downright insulting.
