Things to do with visiting grandchildren
When I found out my granddaughter was going to visit me this month, I immediately went to the Box Office to sign up for some Camp Villages classes. Unfortunately, all the ones she wanted were filled. I scrambled to find something to entertain her. At her age, (10), she loves crafts and projects.
I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics and signed her up for some kids classes. We had our first one yesterday and it was FABULOUS! The instructor was kind, knowledgeable and patient and my granddaughter loved it. We were surprised that they had to cancel one of the classes because they didn't have enough signed up. They need 2 to have a class. I can't believe Villagers aren't taking advantage of these wonderful classes! We also did a pizza making class at Flippers. That was done very well, also! |
Drive over to Homasassa Springs State Park and see some manatees up close. The native hippopotamus is a lot of fun to see, too. The story about how the hippopotamus became a native Floridian is a good one.
While over there, eat lunch at The River House in Crystal River and get a table overlooking Monkey Island. Another day, drive up to Rainbow Springs State Park. The 72 degree water is mighty refreshing to swim in on a hot day. Take a swim noodle or life jacket as the water is deep. Another day, drive over to St. Pete Beach for the day. Great beaches, gentle slope in the water, and only takes 2 hours to get there. |
Another day take a ride to Mt. Dora & be sure to check out craig cat tours.
