Where is "Wingman" The Canadian Goose?
 

If you live on or around Lake Paradise, in the Historic District, you have seen a Canadian goose that has deformed wings on each side.

It will be two years in Sept as TVers and "Wingman" was one of our first friends here. During our first winter stay, "Wingman" visited us at least twice daily. When we left in March for our migration north, we wondered if "Wingman" would be there when we returned. We came back in May of that year and Wingman" was gone. Somehow he got over Hwy 27/441 because we saw him by the pond across from Hacienda CC. We called for him and he came over. That was the last we saw of him. We returned many times from Aug thru Dec of 2014 and "Wingman" was never seen.

When we returned again after this past Christmas, there was still no "Wingman", until one evening in early Feb., while doing my favorite past time of " watching the lake", was this scene out of a Clint Eastwood movie, "Wingman" waddling over the distant point of Lake Paradise, coming toward our house. I quickly ran in the house and alerted my wife, ( who gave "Wingman" his name), and welcomed "Wingman" back.

Like the previous winter, "Wingman" visited us multiple times every day. It was difficult to leave at the end of May, and wondered where "Wingman" would be while we were gone. We just returned for another short stay, and "Wingman" is nowhere to be seen. We have checked many of the bodies of water on both sides of Hwy 27, and no "Wingman". Has anybody seen " Wingman"? I know this story will bring out the sarcastic warriors, this site is so famous for, but if there is a sincere voice who has seen our friend, let us know. Thank you.

Does the bird's wings stick out and hang down about 10 inches or so and look like most of the feathers were stripped away? If so we seen him today behind Paradise rec center with about 20 or so other geese.

That is Wingman! Thank you. We will look for him tomorrow.

For anyone who cares to know, they are called Canada geese. I am glad you have found Wingman. Great name, too.

We understand your attachment. We had a vulture visiting daily with one leg. Apparently he lost it while sitting on an air conditioner. We called him Gimpy and worried about him when we went north.
