Ceiling Fan Light Kits

We are in the process of building a house in Dunedin and want to add light kits to the ceiling fans. The brand of fans being installed in Kinchler which I have never heard of. There doesn't appear to be a dealer locally who handles this brand and I was wondering if anyone had experience getting light kits for this brand. Also, will other brand light kits fit these fans? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I believe Home Depot has that brand.

Home Depot?

Pikes electric in Lake Sumter Landing has fixtures for fans that the Villages installs.

Kichler fans and most ceiling fans are 'universal" when it comes to light kits--most important-avoid lights that use halogen lamps--a little bit of grease from your fingers -will drastically lower their life

Pike did the electrical work in our house and we had them install light kits on all our fans. They know what the installed fans will support and will give you options on fixtures, globes and multi-speed wall switches.

Bought our 3 at Pike's store next to the Hallmark store in Sumter Landing. They were the same brand as the fans and were easy to install even though the third wire was not previously connected through in the ceiling box above the fan for some reason...

We bought our light kits at Home Depot-they are not made by Kitchler, but they fit.

There are all brands of fans--I would not put any money into a builder line Kichler--they are junk-I'm a retired electrical contractor-I changed out our lanai fans to Casablanca, as well as our master bedroom to a 3 bladed remote control Casablanca, if you want to move air you need a 3 blade fan with sufficient pitch

I installed my own also from either Home Depot or Lowes, I do not recall. NOTE: if you are building, make sure the RED wire is installed to the switch box, then all you need to do is change out the single switch for a dual switch and connect the red wire at both ends.
Welcome to TV.

Not sure how long ago you retired, or what type of work you did in elec. contracting, but Kichler has been around a long time (Cleveland HQ) and a "Top 3 or 4" type mfgr of not just ceiling fans, but all sorts of indoor/outdoor lighting, landscape/hardscape lighting and cabinet/accent lighting, both commercial and residential. They are a very widely specified product in commercial office bldg construction and rehab projects. So, although the actual product models used by TV Construction Co. in the homes they built may not have been $300+ models, or EnergyStar models with DC motors....which Kichler has many of in their product line....I don't think I'd generalize to the point that all their product was "junk", or strictly a "builder line."

Having been in the elec. contracting business as you were, I'm sure you're pretty aware that almost every mfgr (Hunter, Emerson, Casablanca, etc.) has their "builder" models for large project work. Doesn't make them all junk, just maybe not as durable as the premier products in their lineup.

Well said, totally agree. :BigApplause: By the way Hunter now owns Casablanca Fan Co founded in the 70s. Kichler has been around since 1938...BESCO on 14th street in Leesburg has a large inventory.. Besco Lighting Center

Have installed many fans and there are good, better, and best with most every brand. Most of the 3-4 blade fans are more likely to wobble from being unbalanced than the 5 blades regardless what brand they are. Balancing kits are some help but having more blades is best in the long run.

I went to Dan's Fan City in Leesburg for light kits...

Chatbrat 07-15-2015 01:12 PM

I will stand by what I said , all fans installed in designer & lower grade fans in the Villages are junk--builder's line ,by any manufacturer is junk-I had a new house in another state--all the outlets had to be replaced , they were P &S( Pass & Seymour) manufactured in China---junk

Pike's Electric in Sumter Landing

Pike's Electric in Sumter Landing has a variety of light kits, including some that take LED bulbs. They are made by Kichler for your fans and will be a better fit than a universal style. At Pike's they have special pricing on kits installed by their licensed and bonded electricians and warranty their work for a year.
Their sales staff is experienced and knowledgeable in the fixtures and The Villages homes.
