Need Suggestions For Covering Up Old Names On Cart

Has anyone found a good way to cover up the old names on a golf cart? When you remove the old names you find that the paint has faded on the gold cart. So the protected paint under the names leaves a shadow of the old names. Anyone found a way to cover it up?

There is no residue, but he used Goo Off (or whatever it is called) anyway. It had no affect.

Has anyone found a way (short of painting the cart) to get rid of the shadow or cover it up?

I have painted several cars over the years, so I understand your problem. It might be possible to have an automotive paint shop match the existing color, and be able to fade in the new paint to the old, however this will not be cheap.
You could pick a contrasting or offsetting color, and paint just the areas where the names were.
There are many variations of gold automotive paint, and you could go to one of the larger auto parts stores and carry out cans of paint, to see if you get lucky and find a close match.
So short of painting the whole cart, these are my ideas.
Hope this helps.

How about putting some kind of sticker over the spot. It could be a sports logo, an alligator, a flamingo, a flower. Whatever suits your fancy. Yo
u could even just get the new names placed over the spots that remain. I bet it wouldn't show much if you got your names in a slightly larger size! You should be able to find almost anything you could want on the internet or ebay. This is what I would do!

An alligator sticker on one side, duck on the other.

i would go to one of the cart dealers I have a feeling they might use a buffing compound to blend body repair paint jobs. in the 60' we used to wash and wax our cars and maybe once a years we would use a rubbing compound to refresh the paint color and wax it 3 times lol they didn't have clear coat back then.

I once used a colored vinyl tape, cut a palm tree out of it. It stuck well. Going on about 8 years. Still stuck and not faded.

Have you thought about just changing your names to match the ones on the cart?

I changed my name to E-Z-GO and now I can spot my cart anywhere (and everywhere)

We're buying our house and golf cart from friends next month. We're just going to go by their names until the golf cart gives out!

GeoGeo 07-30-2015 02:27 PM

That's a good idea to just go by the previous owner's names. And if you do something that someone doesn't like they will think it was someone named (the previous owner's names). LOL
