Solar Panels

I decided to have solar panels installed for my pool. Two months after the installation I returned home and my husband told me that someone from the county stopped by to check the panels. All he did was a visual inspection from the ground and stated that everything was fine. It seems strange to me since a permit doesn't have to be pulled for solar panels that anyone from the county would check on them. How would they even know they were on the roof. Has anyone had the same experience?

Call the county you are in and ask if they inspect for solar panels. Seems like they inspected ours. Usually you have a yard sign with attached paperwork left in until all inspections are complete.

we are in Marion County and had 2 solar tubes installed by the Solar Guys, a couple of months later a County inspector stopped by to check the installation. He said anytime something is installed on your roof, they have to write off on it. There was a permit required for the soloar tubes, maybe your contractor just wrote that into the quote.

It's how the local government justifies the vig they get on virtually every transaction between you and a contractor. I'm waiting at home today for the "collector" to come by and verify that the contractor did indeed install a new AC unit (Duh, it's that big new shiny metal box next to the house.). Based on my experience with other inspections, this should take about 30 seconds. And yes, the contractors include the permit costs in the bid. On my pool, solar heating, birdcage....
