Wanted: Free Dog Kennel (wire cage)

Updated: Someone asked me if I would post a request for them. They are looking for a free dog kennel.....does NOT have to be wire kennel (even though that is what my original post said). If anyone is thinking of getting rid of one, please let me know and I will pass the info along.

A few months ago I took two of them to Good Will behind Walmart on 466. I'm sure those ones are not there, but they may have others. .....not free, but cheaper than new.

Still looking for a free wire dog kennel.

Dog owner is desperate. Dog ate both their couches. Doesn't have to be a wire kennel.

Not trying to be a wise guy here but . . .
Instead of waiting for a FREE kennel and having 2 couches eaten isn't it better to just quickly go buy one?????

Or get a trainer to make sure that behavior gets changed quickly.

The person who is in need of the kennel does not have the money to spare for this purchase. I am sure they wished they had let something else go and made such a purchase before their furniture was destroyed. But hindsight is 20/20. And who am I to say that they should let their electric bill go so they can purchase a kennel. Right?

Geo, do you know the breed or size of the dog?

Dogs are expensive when they are well cared for (food, vet care, medications) is caging them the solution, or maybe re-homing? By eating the sofas, maybe the dogs are trying to tell the owner that they need something. Re-homing is sad, but there is no shame in it. If anyone needs help finding a home/foster home, let me know.

I have already spoke to the owner about rehoming one or both of their dogs. This looks like something that may happen in the near future. Not because of the damage, but because it would be in the best interest of the dogs. This person works plus has health issues which requires long stays at the hospital.

I am a dachshund rescue volunteer. I have spoken to the dogs' owner about rehoming one or both of them. The owner works and has health issues which makes him end up going to the hospital often....sometimes for a week at a time. First step is to get the dogs fixed, which that was scheduled to be done in August (soonest they could do it). Wouldn't you know the female came in heat now. The dogs are being kept apart. But while the owner went to the store the male became destructive and destroyed both couches. Apparently the owner had no idea how crazy a male dog can get when there is a female in heat around. I am sure the owner knows now.

He does not want to cage his dogs all the time, but needs an extra cage to contain the male when he is not home to supervisor.

We can make all kinds of comments about why the owner would even think about getting a dog or having dogs that are not fixed, etc. But it is what it is. Just trying to help make the situation better for the owner and for the dogs. Thankfully the owner realizes it is getting to be too much for him and wants to do the right thing. There is no shame in rehoming a dog. Just make sure it goes to a good home and not the first person that comes along.
