Orlando Airport --- Help

We are flying from Orlando to Atlanta to Amsterdam on Delta.

Do we go through customs in Orlando? If so, do we check in at the normal
delta counter and they take our luggage or do we keep our luggage and go through customs somewhere in the airport?

I am a little confused after talking with Delta.

Does Orlando have a international terminal?

You only go through Customs when you return to the United States. Customs must be cleared at the first airport at which you land after departing your airport outside the U.S. You check in at the Delta counter as you normally would when you arrive at the Orlando airport for your departing flight.

Your passport will be checked at your departure, usually in Orlando. You will clear customs and passport control in Atlantaupon your return this will be in either terminal 5 or 6 and then you reclaim your luggage and recheck it for your flight to Orlanda. It sounds more complicated than it is.

Departure, as others have said, is same as normal departure. What is your return routing? Amsterdam-Atlanta-Orlando? Or simething else? That will determine where & when you pass thru US Customs. Have a great trip, BTW!!

And you go through baggage claim twice.

:agree:

It's easy on the way to Amsterdam. The interesting part is on the return, and you'll do all your customs in Atlanta. and Yes, you pick up your luggage twice.

There must be some good information on the Delta website, or even a travel site.

When you leave a foreign airport you will have access to a duty free liquor store after you have passed security. Since you have passed security you can take it on your flight to the US. You must transfer this liquor into your checked baggage prior to rechecking your bags. If you do not you will be leaving it to someone else as you cannot take it in uncheced bags once in the US.

When you buy make sure they wrap it up in saran wrap.

I learned the hard way.

We were on the Celebrity Amsterdam to Stockholm cruise in February. Are you on the same ?

I try to arrive earlier at the airport for an international trip to allow plenty of time for my checked luggage to go through the proper screening for international travel.

You go through Customs in Amsterdam. Just returned from there.
