We are number 11 in Google search
 

The phrase, "The Villages" places us number 11 in searche returns. We still are way down the list on returns for "The Villages, Florida"

I am now wondering if most people just enter "The Villages" or "The Villages, Florida" when they search for news about The Villages

Jan, when I was initally searching, I was putting in The Villages, Florida. But I can't speak for others.

Jan, #11 is not a good number, is it? I never go past the first few thinking they are the most relevant, is that true?

I have an idea, is there a place in a sticky that we could put Donna's dazzler sign and everyone could start their post with that pretty image? Or can you preprogram each post to start with it? I'm gonna give you and Tony some work to do over the weekend and Darrell too, he needs something to do !!!

I lied, I didn't go back to packing, I just had to google The Villages, both with and without FL. Jan, your right, but we're #9 now for The Villages and way down for Villages, FL, so I think we need to keep the FL because that may be the natural tendency for googlers and we need to get higher up in that search. IMHO.....

To get here on that fateful day long ago, I was using Google's advanced search. Exact phrase "The Villages" and then Florida plugged into the "must have" or whatever they call it on there. "and" "or" "not" -- those limiters are my best friends when searching.

On the day that I found Talk of The Villages I had just searched for The Villages. When I first search I used to search “The Villages” AND “Florida”. I was also looking beyond the first few entries to see what came up.

Unfortunately, Kathie is right. People, including myself, only tend to look at the first few references because often the further you go down on the list you can very quickly run into obscure or irrelevant references to the phrase.

The way I found TOTV was when someone mentioned it at city-data.com on their Forums.

Google doesn't read images and turn them in text.


Thank goodness we don't have Donna's dazzler in every post. :) (Waiting for Donna to chase me around with her rolling pin.)
