Sinkhole vs. Depression
What's the difference between a "sinkhole" and a "depression" in the ground?
Well, I guess it depends on who is reporting it. A story in that notorious other website that cannot be named says that a sinkhole 15 feet in diameter and 25 feet deep opened up outside Hibiscus recreation center yesterday afternoon. This is near Cane Garden Country Club between Bailey Trail and the front side of the rec center. Meanwhile our delightful daily "newspaper", The Villages Daily Sin describes the same event under the headline "Depression Forms in The Villages". See page A10. So which do you think it is? |

As the Hillsborough Trail sinkhole thread is closed, I thought I would comment that I am glad the Developer is paying for the massive repair of the “depression “ on that road that has blocked traffic for days. I hope the ground south of 466A is not cursed. I know Scioto Street back up home doesn’t have these issues.

A depression is in your yard and a sinkhole is on someone's else's property. Two Plane Kid, of course the ground anywhere in Central and West Central Florida is subject to sinkholes. You can expect them after a LOT of rain. California has earthquakes and Oklahoma has tornadoes and Washington D.C. has Congress.
