Medical Bill Help

We have a pile of medical bills coming in. It's a bit overwhelming. Some seem like the insurance should pay. Does anyone know of a company that will help sort through them so we don't overpay?

A few years ago there were two ladies in Philadelphia that did it.
I would ask for billing help from the hospital etc and ask them if there is a company to use.
A little more detail might help.Caused by auto accident, nursing home related, just sick etc. Also what type of insurance, auto, medicare, advantage etc.
I just went through a lot of bills and double billing and incorrect bills are not uncommon so question the bills in writing.

I do not have an answer to your questions but did want to echo your concern. Now in retirement and paying for our own insurance coverage we are paying attention to bills and amazed at the "shady looking mistakes" we are finding. Due to a very high deductable we are paying for almost all our medical needs plus paying a big monthly premium for the insurance industry. The problem is our profit driven medical system encourages this slight of hand and until a majority feels this pain nothing will change. I wish you luck finding someone to help you.

My wife was recently diagnosed with cancer. Very early and curable but has put life on hold until she is cured. As the bills have been coming in we have been scrutinizing each one. What we have found is most are wrong either in billing or the way the insurance company handled them. We haven't hired anyone we have just been talking to the hospital, insurance company and doctors. They all have been very helpful at correcting them. One big area has been services we had no control over like lab work and other professions that came along with our in network hospital being billed out of network. Although we will pay thousands when it is all said and done we have saved just as much by questioning every bill. Some are very stright forward but most are not. It is supprising how much Co pays amount to.

Medical Bill

I'm assuming you have Medicare. You need to look at your Explanation of Benefits to see what your patient responsibility is. It will states on the EOB. Also, if you were in the hospital, request an itemized statement before paying the bill. Look at the bills closely. There could be double charges. Sometimes if Medicare doesn't pay for a certain DX code they will give an explanation as to way if wasn't paid.

Doctors may send in the wrong diagnosis codes and if that is the case the doctor can resubmit the right diagnosis codes and ins. may pay. Please note- if you signed an Advance Beneficiary Notice- also called waiver of liability you may be responsible.

I hope this helps. I don't mind answer any other questions. I'm new to this group. I work in the medical field.

I didn't realize I hadn't posted this. I must have responded to an email. My neighbor told about a company, or lady, I guess, in The Villages called Billing Angel. My neighbor hired her because he'd rather play golf, etc, than deal with medical bills. Her website is angel4billing.weebly.com She did just what I needed. Nice lady. Thank you all for the suggestions.
