Sept. 1, 1939 all over again?

It is Sept. 1, 1939 and Poland has just been invaded by troops from another country. Further incursions to follow...
Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Luxembourg, France, The Netherlands,

It is August, 2008 and Georgia is invaded by troops from another country...
Ukraine? The Balkans? (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Serbia, et al)

Where is the world headed?

Let's not forget that relatively recently Iraq was invaded by troops from another country....

Indeed, where is the world headed?

Sadly, have not forgotten that. There seems to be pieces moving around the chess board but it isn't going to be a fun match.

Not sure who said that, graciegirl, but Karl Kraus said:

"How is the world ruled and how do wars start? Diplomats tell lies to journalists and then believe what they read."

Nothing is new under the sun (whoever said that...). I just feel, though, that to be cognizant of history, we must be cognizant of all of history, not selective history, and certainly not revisionist history.... If not to be, then for sure we are setting ourselves up to repeat the same mistakes--often over and over and over--and no one country can be exempt!
